Supporting Scothern’s Next Chapter
It’s 10 p.m., and I’ve just returned from the Scothern Parish Council meeting. I want to congratulate Jane Johnson on her election as Chair and Barnaby Patchett on becoming Vice‑Chair. I’m confident they will continue to support the village by fostering a collaborative approach with fellow councillors and residents.
During the meeting, I delivered my report on recent activities. I was pleased to see recognition for the support given to the printed edition of Scothern News, which is especially important for residents who find the online version difficult to access. I was also glad to note that the Beck has now been cleaned — work that should help reduce the risk of flooding.
The Parish Council is also making progress on the Scothern Emergency Plan, which I suggested last year. It has now been submitted to the Lincolnshire Resilience Forum for review and approval, an important step in strengthening local preparedness.
Before the meeting, I met with the Clerk, Jane, Chris Shepherd (Chair of Scothern Recreation Centre), and Gill Radley (Secretary) at The Bottle and Glass. Over soft drinks, we discussed the replacement of the Scothern Flower and Produce Show Trophy, the charity’s history, their ongoing work, and potential grant opportunities.
After a full day at work and a productive evening in Scothern, it’s time to unwind, rest, and get ready for tomorrow.
