Storm Babet

I’m sharing with you the update I received from WLDC in regards to the current weather.

As you know we are currently undergoing extraordinary weather conditions. Overnight, between 40-50mm of rain fell on the District, with a further 10-20mm this morning. Rain is expected to continue into this evening, then easing overnight. There are currently a number of Flood Alerts and Warnings in force, currently they are on the River Trent, River Eau, Barlings Eau, River Till and tributaries, River Rase and the Upper and Lower Ancholme. This situation is constantly evolving.

In our District, aside from the flood warnings, there are several roads which are either impassable or passable with care due to surface water flooding or trees which have blown down. LCC Highways are aware and are dealing with these. The Environment Agency is also responding by opening sluice gates and flood relief fields where appropriate. Market and Middle Rasen appear to be the worst hit as over 650 homes will be without power until at least 6pm tonight although latest reports suggest 60% of these now have power restored. Properties around the District are reporting flooding issues, it is difficult to be specific due to multiple calls reporting the same problems, however we believe there are c30 on Market and Middle Rasen and c17 elsewhere.

WLDC continue to fully participate in the muti-agency response. Our Operational, Customer Services and Home Choices Teams are all putting emergency procedures in place and will work late if need be. WLDC are supporting LCC  Highways with the delivery of sandbags.

If residents are at imminent risk of internal flooding please advise them to call the LCC Floodline number 01522 782082 or 999 if there is a threat to life. The Floodline is currently overwhelmed with calls and LCC advise the best way to report flooding issues is via Fix my Street https://www.fixmystreet.com/
